Today is an exciting day for Chamber Music | OC: the website, which I completely re-designed, is going live, and we’re announcing our 4-week residency at the Grand Canyon National Park.

To read more about the residency, click here. We’re really excited about it – if you’ve never been out to the Grand Canyon, August 2014 would be a great time to visit 🙂

The website was a fun but time-consuming project. I had three goals with the re-design: (1) make it look better, (2) make it more intuitive for the visitor, and (3) make it less work for me in the future.

To accomplish goal #1, I made a ton of stylistic changes to the website, and designed huge banners for each concert. Goal #s 2 and 3 were more complicated, and required a lot of digging into unfamiliar areas of WordPress. BUT, I’ve arisen from the depths of PHP and JavaScript a more knowledgeable and efficient web designer. I wanted to make sure that it would be easy to add new people, venues, concerts, and etc. in the future, and with everything inter-connected, adding in a person means that they show up in all of the places they should – I don’t have to add them manually to every page they should appear on.

In other news, I’ll be going on tour with the San Diego Symphony to Carnegie Hall and China (Yantai, Shanghai, and Beijing) following 3 weeks of concerts at Copley Symphony Hall. In addition, our Trio schedule is quite busy for the fall, so it’s going to take a lot of awesome time-management skills to survive until the holidays.

In a few weeks, the four of us (Michelle and I, with Kevin and Iryna) are going on a 3-night camping trip a few hours north of here. It’s going to be so great to just be out in the wilderness for a few days, and Michelle and I are excited to get to use our backpacks from our extended trip again!
