This Friday, May 3rd, at 7:30 PM in the Irvine Barclay Theatre, a brand new chamber music festival will begin! Chamber Music OC, a longtime vision of fellow Trio Céleste musicians Kevin Kwan Loucks and Iryna Krechkovsky, has been many years in the making, and it’s amazing to watch it come to life and participate in its success.
We’ll be playing a program of incredible music, including Schumann’s Piano Quintet in Eb Major, Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G minor, Brahms’ Sonatensatz, and the Scherzo movement from Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings with members of the CMOC Young Artist program. Michelle is joining in for the Dvorak Serenade as a Mentor Artist, and for the Schumann and Brahms, we’ll be joined by Yuri Cho and David Samuel from the amazing Afiara String Quartet.
Michelle and I are looking forward to moving in to our permanent residence here, less than 3 weeks from today. There’s a lot that has to happen before then, but furniture selection is mostly out of the way! In the meantime, we’re keeping busy working on building our private studios, rehearsing, becoming Californians (went to our first Lakers game a few weeks ago), and running around with Spunky.
I’ve been getting a bit more traffic on my free WordPress tutorial website, so after this Friday, I’ll be putting more work into it to make sure that continues. Some friends of ours are working on some of their own entrepreneurial side-projects, so it’s fun to toss ideas around with them too.
If you’re in the OC area and love chamber music, we hope to see you at the concert! For ticket info, click here.
